Case study: Development of an application for the management and distribution of Emails

Requirements:

The objective was improving the teamwork between members of a consortium. For this purpose, offline editing of specification documents were to be made possible. The workflow changes with the content. Several decision-making bodies (i.e. approval and release of contents) were to be integrated.

Solution:

• Development of a solution for the project coordinator with configurable processes and rules.
• Members of the project complete a RTF template and send it via Email to an Email account.
• Incoming Emails are retrieved via the POP3 account, checked for formal accuracy and stored in a database.
• Database contents are evaluated based on defined criteria and forwarded to appropriate project members.

Ergebnisse:

• Standardized processes.
• Improvement of the coordination of modification proposals.
• Documenting and tracing modifications.
• Considerable ease of workload for the project coordinator.
